Lois Swanson. Welcome to my Insider Tips on Barbados.  I love the island and want to share my tips to help you enjoy your holiday to the utmost.

Recently returned from trip #32, so lots of updates including new restaurants and other great finds.

After 32 trips to Barbados, all at least 7 - 14 days in length, based on the information I present, those involved in tourism consider me a Barbados expert and an authority on most things happening on the island.  I constantly update this website with new information I have gathered, so check back often.  I will include current information on hotels, restaurants, menus, and updates on various things on the island.  Be sure to check on new updates in Beaches, Fun Things To Do, and Restaurants. I will keep you informed on what’s hot and what’s not in Barbados. People are curious as to why I do this.  Have you been frustrated with information that is out-of-date when you purchase a new travel guide.  I was, so in 1999 after continually answering the same questions from lots of people (as they knew of my expertise with Barbados), I decided to write an Insider Tips Sheet which I sent out for free to people all over the world.  That has evolved into this website.  I try to give honest opinions in my reviews of various attractions, restaurants, hotels, etc.  By doing so I feel I can help visitors get the best value for their money. I am passionate about Barbados.  It is a fantastic island with friendly people, varied scenery, gorgeous beaches, lots of activities, fabulous restaurants, historical sites, Jacobian mansions, great houses, and the best rum in the world.  I want to share that passion with others so they may experience the best things when they visit Barbados.  I am from Fairfax, Virginia, but return often to the island we love.  If there is anything that is not included on my website that you have questions about, please write me for answers at:  lois@barbadostips.com  For most restaurants, hotels, villas or car rentals, if you mention that Lois Swanson recommended, I know they’ll give you their best pricing and service, although some businesses will offer my readers a special discount.
